Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez has emerged as a summer transfer target for Manchester City.
The 24-year-old committed his long-term future to the Serie A winners by signing a new contract last October. His current deal will now run down in 2026.
According to InterLive.it, the Nerazzurri ‘will need to monetise’ in the summer and the ‘choice of having to sacrifice someone could fall precisely’ on the striker.
The Argentina international ‘could say goodbye’ to the club after this season and potential funds could also be used to bring in new faces to the San Siro next season.
When talking about the South American, the website states Inter must ‘keep an eye’ on the English champions.
Sergio Agüero left the Etihad at the end of last season and the Citizens haven’t signed his replacement yet. The Premier League winners could shift focus to Agüero’s compatriot since Pep Guardiola is a ‘great admirer’ of Martínez.
As per the report, City could offer Gabriel Jesus to Inter in exchange for Simone Inzaghi’s star, but the Italian champions are not ready to accept this formula. Inter ‘only want cash, no less than €60-70m’.
The Manchester club have the ability to meet the demands set by Inter, but whether or not they can convince Martínez remains to be seen.
