Up until the beginning of December, Thomas Strakosha had spent the season on the bench, watching Lazio’s matches without much chance of getting on the pitch.

Pepe Reina, now 39-years-of-age, was the Serie A club’s first choice goalkeeper, and then things changed. Since playing against Sampdoria on December 5th, Strakosha hasn’t been dropped in the league, with the only match Reina has received being in the Italian cup.

Both men have contracts expiring at the end of the season, and Strakosha could be off to Watford, report Il Messaggero. The Hornets have been linked with the 26-year-old previously, and it’s stated that he’s set set to leave Lazio and he goes ‘towards Watford’.

That’s a pretty big and simple claim from the Italian newspaper, and they don’t present any further information on the situation or what kind of offer the Premier League club have put forward for the soon-to-be free agent.

For now, it’s stated Strakosha has assured managed Maurizio Sarri that he’s completely committed to Lazio until the end of the season, when it’s expected he’ll leave the club.

Whether Watford being relegated would change Il Messaggero’s stance isn’t explained.
