One of the big Leeds United stories this January transfer window was the potential return of Ola Aina to English football.
Previously contracted to Chelsea, the Nigeria international moved to Torino in 2019 after a successful loan, only to end up on a temporary deal at Fulham a year later.
Returning to Italy, the wing-back found himself a starter under Ivan Juric, but that didn’t mean he was guaranteed to stay, with rumours sending the player to Leeds rife for a while.
The deal taking Mohamed Fares on loan from Lazio only added fuel to the fire, but the Algeria international severely injured himself a few days after the transfer was completed, leaving Torino short once more in a position they just bolstered.
While he was with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, his country have since been eliminated, meaning he will return to Italy.
It’s made clear he will ‘end the season’ with his current club, and then a ‘final decision on his future will be made next summer’.
