Cagliari find themselves second from bottom in Serie A and in a real relegation battle, a situation which isn’t going down well with the club’s fans.
On Saturday evening they lost 4-0, at home, to Udinese and that result and performance saw protests, with Calciomercato reporting sporting director Stefano Capozucca then publicly criticised some players.
Nahitan Nandez, who was heavily linked to both Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur during the summer, only managed half of the match, coming off with an injury.
Calciomercato say that given Cagliari’s current situation, and a likely need to invest in the winter market, ‘it may have been his last match’ for his current club. They explain that given the player’s desire to move in the last window, when he almost went to war with his club, and his agent saying there’s some kind of an agreement to let him leave, a transfer is on the cards.
Leeds and Tottenham are again credited with interest, with it explained they’ve continued to follow the midfielder’s situation. Despite having a €36m clause, there’s an assumption Cagliari would have to settle for less.
Nandez was keen to take a step up in his career, and he’d probably be tempted by a move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham. That may no longer be the case with Leeds, given Marcelo Bielsa’s side are on a difficult run and just outside the relegation zone, with teams below them having games in hand.
