RB Leipzig star Amadou Haidara is a player that Manchester United Ralf Rangnick ‘loves’, but the German club are working to remove his release clause.

That’s according to club chief Oliver Mintzlaff, who commented on United’s reported interest in the Leipzig midfielder.

Manchester United are expected to be busy in the market in the coming months after confirming Rangnick as their manager last week.

He’s seemingly been given free reign at the club, particularly when it comes to transfers, and that has led to rumours linking him with several RB players.

Haidara is at the top of the list, particularly as the midfielder has made it clear in the past that the Red Devils are his favourite club.

He could be available as he has a release clause in his contract, something Manchester United can take advantage of if Rangnick makes it clear he would like the player.

That’s something RB chief Mintzlaff was asked about in a press conference yesterday according to RB Live, at which point he admitted ‘of course, he is also a player that Ralf Rangnick loves’.

He, though, poured cold water on transfer rumours, for the time being, insisting that ‘there is nothing burning now for the time being’ before admitting that the club are trying to ‘bring about a different situation’ when it comes to Haidara’s ‘exit scenario’.

That’s in reference to his release clause, which it seems they’re now not happy about and want to try and change if they can.

That would suggest they’re concerned about the rumours around Manchester United, even if there’s nothing concrete going on at this moment in time.

That could change, though, particularly if Rangnick is such as fan, and perhaps United would be wise to move quickly if they want to get their man.
