One of the big pieces of news in the Italian rumour mill today is Arsenal finding an initial agreement with Fiorentina for the transfer of Dusan Vlahovic.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the clubs agree on an outline deal for a January move, and the Gunners would now need to work to convince the player, since there’s ‘distance’ and he’d rather wait for other offers.
Now as the local media reacts to this news, we get to see interesting claims regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s wish to sign Vlahovic as well.
Radio Toscana featured an interview with market expert Niccolò Ceccarini. Besides highlighting how important Arsenal’s offer would be, he warns about a potential attempt from Spurs as well.
“Today’s news is Arsenal’s offer to Fiorentina for Vlahovic. The figure we are talking about is very important, but in addition to the interest of the Gunners, I also expect an offer from Tottenham, perhaps in June,” said Ceccarini (via Fiorentina News).
“However, I’m not so convinced that he can move to London. I expect more teams to come out for the Serbian in the summer. Juventus are also undoubtedly interested in the player, but I don’t think they can compete with the other big European players from an economic point of view. Having said that I’d like to see a great Vlahovic tomorrow in Turin.”
Amid the many rumours on Vlahovic’s future, even Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano talked about it today. Quoted by Tutto Mercato Web, the coach claimed he doesn’t believe what’s been said in the papers recently.
“I don’t read the papers,” said the manager.
“I’ve seen Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Juve, AC Milan… everything and more.”
“Right now, it’s just rumours and situations that I don’t find credible. The boy is focused, and you’ve seen how much he wants to do well.”
