Chelsea FC are one of the clubs who are interested in the signing of Bahia youngster Gabriel, according to reports from the Brazilian media.
Outlet UOL reports that the Blues, along with Real Valladolid, have made an approach for the transfer of the 17-year-old.
Both clubs have been in contact with agents Thiago Rafal and Leo Casula, who take care of the goalkeeper’s career.
Without making it clear if the same offer was made by the two sides, it’s said an amount of €2m for 70% of the athlete’s rights was put on the table, even though he’s currently protected by a release clause of €7m.
According to UOL, Chelsea and Valladolid both want to get to a deal now, although Gabriel can only move when he’s eligible too, which is when he turns 18 or gets a European passport.
The youngster still plays for Bahia’s U-18 squad, and has experience training with the U-23s as well.
He’s also been called up by Brazil’s youth squads.
It’s not said which club would be closer on signing the goalkeeper now, although it’s claimed that Real Valladolid’s interest is older than Chelsea’s.
