Felipe Anderson, who left West Ham this summer, has admitted he ‘didn’t think too much’ when it came to heading for the exit.
The Brazilian made a return to Lazio in a £2.7m deal back in July, having fallen down the pecking order under David Moyes.
He originally joined the Hammers in a £34.2m deal back in 2018 and enjoyed a solid if unremarkable first season in London.
Things took a nosedive last season, though, with Moyes preferring other options and Anderson being shipped out on loan to Porto.
That move failed to reignite the spark, so both he and West Ham were keen on a permanent separation this summer, something which was provided when former club Lazio came calling.
He’s since commented on the move, insisting that he will look back on his time with West Ham fondly as he’s learned from his mistakes while there.
That’s a stance he’s continued to take, although he does say he didn’t have to think twice about departing.
“In my career, I always wanted to play at the highest level; I wanted to experience this atmosphere again,” he told Lazio Style Radio, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb.
“When I had the opportunity to come back, I didn’t think too much about it. In England it was good because I worked a lot on intensity and strength.
“It’s a beautiful and fast league where you don’t think much about tactics unlike in Italy. I learned to always be physically fit.
“The first year went well, the second less so and then it was decided by both sides not to continue.”
