Trawling through European transfer rumours on a daily basis, we come across some interesting claims, some more believable than others.
When we spotted a Belgian website claiming that Liverpool were interested in bringing Anderlecht’s Frank Acheampong to Anfield, we decided to take a closer look at the source, which seem to originate from Ghana.
That’s it.
We’ll take this with a pinch of salt, for now, but this isn’t the first time the player has been linked with a move to England.
Before Liverpool, Acheampong was linked with a move to Sunderland back in November, while a transfer to Newcastle was also touted back in July.
The 23-year-old, usually deployed as a left-winger, has had to spend most of the season in an unfamiliar position, covering at left-back, due to the club’s lack of depth in defence.
Still, Acheampong has been a very important player for the Belgian side this season, already making 28 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and picking up five assists.
It’s a long way from that to finding a place in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side.
The wide man was didn’t take part in his side’s 0-0 draw to Club Brugge at the weekend, having had to come off with an injury in their 3-2 loss to AS Saint-Etienne in the Europa League last week.
