Sunday’s edition of Record insists that any potential move for Otavio from FC Porto to Liverpool will not automatically see Marko Grujic go the other way… and vice versa.
Grujic spent last season on loan at Porto from the Reds, and the Liga NOS side would like to keep him around, potentially on a permanent deal. The midfielder himself is said to be keen on that plan, but so far there’s been no agreement between Porto and Liverpool, so the situation is rumbling on.
Record insists that even if Otavio ends up at Anfield, it doesn’t mean the Grujic deal will happen. Should both moves go through, then they will still be treated as completely independent transfers, because that would be better for the Portuguese club’s accounts.
When it comes to Otavio, Record say Liverpool have made ‘exploratory contacts’ which likely means the Reds have tried to find out the price of a deal.
Everything is open on the player’s future and whilst a sale is possible, there’s no indication of an asking price.
His buyout clause is €40m until July 15th, when it will rise to €60m.
Last season Otavio, playing in a variety of midfield roles, made 26 league appearances for Porto, scoring three goals and adding eight assists.
