Rafa Benitez has seemingly been on the verge of taking over at Everton for more than a week.
The Premier League club have been looking for a new manager since Carlo Ancelotti left Goodison Park for Real Madrid, and they’ve been linked with several potential options.
Benitez has recently become the overwhelming favourite, yet he’s certainly not a name which has been welcomed by many Everton fans.
The Spaniard’s past with Liverpool, and some previous comments made, are partly the reason behind that, however, there’s also a feeling the Toffees should be going for other candidates out there.
Everton didn’t look to have a lot, or any, competition for Benitez, but that could all be about to change.
Fiorentina are also on the hunt for a new manager and having looked to set to appoint Spezia Calcio’s Vincenzo Italiano, they’re said to be having cold feet.
La Nazione, a Florence newspaper, pick up claims from local radio to say the route to Italiano has cooled down on Thursday, partly due to the conditions, likely compensation, Spezia are imposing on a potential deal.
This has has seen them consider other options, with two men named: Rafa Benitez and Paulo Fonseca.
