Valencia are keen on signing Rafa Mir from Wolves, and therefore the player’s current situation is of great interest to Super Deporte, a newspaper local to the Spanish club.
They report that things are getting difficult regarding the signing, and start off by explaining Mir has refused a contract offer from Wolves. His current deal with the Premier League club expires in June 2022, and it’s stated as fact that ‘he will not renew’.
Mir feels his time being owned by Wolves is coming to an end, and he doesn’t want to continue being linked to them. The 23-year-old didn’t feel he could settle in Wolverhampton, and didn’t feel the confidence of the club as they sent him out on repeated loans.
Therefore, Super Deporte say ‘Rafa is going to leave Wolves’, with the club looking to get a transfer fee rather than see him go for free next year.
Wolves want €15m, and there’s multiple clubs interested and ready to make a move for the forward. That figure will be considered high by Valencia, who probably wanted Mir to extend so could at least try for some kind of loan arrangement.
Mir, who came through the ranks at Valencia before leaving in a controversial exit, is described as not holding any grudges against the Spanish side.
