Brighton and Hove Albion are ‘one step away’ from finalising a deal for Stuttgart forward Nico Gonzalez.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the Seagulls have ‘surprised’ both Fiorentina and Tottenham in the race for the player.

Gonzalez has been linked with a move to Tottenham over the last week, with it claimed four days ago that they had ‘entered negotiations’ for the forward.

Two days later, Brighton were brought into the mix when it was claimed they had ‘never hidden’ their desire to bring him to the Amex.

Fiorentina were also in the mix, but TMW say Brighton have now trumped the pair of them and are close to sealing a €29m, five-year deal.

The website states that the Seagulls have ‘surprised’ both Tottenham and Fiorentina with a ‘decisive attack’ to get a deal done.

They’ve been looking to sign the Argentine ‘for a long time’ and are now one step away from finalising a €29m deal.

They have also had to work to convince the player and managed this with a five-year deal worth €2.5m a year, including bonuses.
