Various reports from the Spanish press have stated Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are firm suitors to sign Raphaël Varane.
Chelsea are also monitoring the defender’s situation at Real Madrid, and the 28-year-old and his club teammate Sergio Ramos have become the Blues’ ‘objectives’ for this summer.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who say Thomas Tuchel wants to strengthen his side’s centre-back position for next season.
Antonio Rüdiger, who has a year left on his contract, has offers to leave the Champions League winners and the report states it won’t be surprising to see the German leave Stamford Bridge.
If this happens, the Chelsea manager wants to sign a new centre-back, and the two players he ‘likes the most’ are Varane and Ramos.
Ramos’ contract expires at the end of this month, and the London club can take him on a free transfer this summer. Chelsea are aware of the Spaniard’s situation, and the conditions needed to complete his signing.
They also know about the France international’s situation as well, an option to sign Varane has been looked at by the Premier League side since the end of last year. The ‘soap opera’ around the former Lens man has entered it’s ‘hottest point’.
Although the Real Madrid duo are Tuchel’s ‘objectives’, Defensa Central claim Chelsea ‘want to take one of’ Varane or Ramos this summer.
