Brighton and Hove Albion are among the clubs in Sporting Gijon goalkeeper Christian Joel Sánchez Leal but could face competition from Brentford.
That’s what Grada 3 report today, covering the widespread interest in the 20-year-old goalkeeper.
The website explains that Spanish giants Atlético Madrid are keen to sign Leal this summer and have already seen their first bid of €800,000 rejected by Sporting.
However, they have not given up on signing the youngster, whose contract, which includes a €6m release clause, expires next summer.
They could return with a bigger bid in this window, and so, therefore, there are ‘uncertainties’ about his future.
However, Diego Simeone and co are not the only ones interested.
Real Madrid and Villarreal both have their eye on him while in Europe, Brighton, Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen are all known to be among the ‘many interested’ parties.
The Seagulls have been focusing heavily on young talent in recent years, with Graham Potter also handing debuts to several last season.
The same can be said of Brentford, who have established themselves as one of the leading clubs when it comes to signing cheap talent and developing it.
They too could need a new goalkeeper this summer should David Raya leave the club.
The problem for both sides is the level of competition, and the fact that the Cuban goalkeeper has ‘given preference’ to staying in Spain.
Sporting also have a trick up their sleeve, with the goalkeeper’s deal set to be renewed until 2024 as soon as the player is registered in their first team.
