Leeds United have been linked to SC Freiburg’s Robin Koch since the start of May.
Newcastle United and an unnamed Premier League club have now joined the chase for the centre-back, reports Kicker.
There have been rumours about Lazio wanting to take the 24-year-old, but Igli Tare, the Serie A side’s sporting director, has told the German outlet there are “currently no discussions” to sign the defender.
According to the claims, there could be an ‘imminent’ transfer, and there’s belief he could be heading towards England this summer.
That’s when Leeds and the Magpies get a mention, and the two clubs, along with another, unnamed, Premier League side, are in the race to sign the Freiburg player.
Kicker don’t have information about which club is closest to securing Koch, even though they suggest his transfer could be ‘imminent’.
Joachim Löw has included the defender in the Germany squad for September’s international fixtures against Spain and Switzerland, and Koch will join the national team camp on Monday.
