Two days ago, SportBild explained that Liverpool are thinking of offering €20m for Thiago Alcântara, while Bayern Munich are expecting around €40m.

The midfielder’s contract runs down in 2021 and he’s looking for a new challenge this summer.

According to Bild, the Spain international’s ‘goal’ is to join the English champions.

It’s claimed Jürgen Klopp has given his approval to sign the 29-year-old and has internally asked the Merseyside club to get a deal done.

Thiago arrived at Allianz Arena from Barcelona in 2013 and he joined them during Pep Guardiola’s first transfer window at the club. The current Manchester City manager had then made it clear; “Thiago or nothing”.

Bild have compared Klopp’s internal request to the one made by Guardiola seven years ago.

The report states the Reds have been ‘favourite’ to sign Thiago, but some of the decision makers at Anfield have objected to his arrival, mainly because of his age and the ‘low resale value’.

There won’t be a problem for Liverpool to find an agreement with the Spaniard, but that may not be the case with the German side. Bild state Klopp’s side only want to pay around €25m, while Bayern are still holding out for the €40m.
