West Ham and Southampton both sent emissaries to the match between Porto and Arouca this weekend, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Porto won the game 3-0, with two goals scored by striker André Silva. Besides the man of the match, midfielder Diogo Jota and winger Yacine Brahimi also had a good performance, with the Algerian scoring Porto’s third goal.
Both André Silva and Brahimi have been linked with Premier League moves lately, with the striker being said to be wanted by Arsenal, as Brahimi was speculated to be of interest to several clubs, including Chelsea.
Brahimi got close to leave the club this summer, but as they had no convincing bids, he ended up rejoining the squad and regained his place in the team. It’s a very different situation from André Silva’s, who has a €60m release clause and won’t leave so easily.
Brazilian defender Jubal was the only Arouca player given a positive rating by O Jogo. The former Santos youngster got a ‘7’ after a solid game and preventing an even worse result.
