Manchester United have ‘good chances’ of signing Kai Havertz this summer after ‘working hard’ on a deal in the past few months.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who say United are ‘definitely an option’ for the 20-year-old this summer.
Havertz is widely expected to be involved in a transfer battle between Europe’s top sides in the coming transfer window after establishing himself as one of the hottest prospects in world football.
His tally of 15 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season has seemingly convinced many now is the time to make their move and the Premier League has often been mooted as a potential destination.
Manchester United are known to be among his suitors, particularly with Ole Gunnar Solskjær determined to build a new, young squad at Old Trafford.
However, according to Sky Germany, Manchester United remain firmly in the race for his signature with sources telling them they have ‘good chances’ of securing his signature.
They report that they have been ‘working hard’ on a deal for several months, making it clear to Havertz that they intend to ‘build a new team’ around him and challenge for titles once more.
Thus they are ‘definitely an option’ for the midfielder, who is also ‘very interested’ in changing clubs this summer after ten years at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Bundesliga club are naturally not keen on losing their star player and want a ‘three-digit’ sum if they are to sanction a sale.
However, Sky report it is ‘unlikely’ any of his suitors will pay such a price, particularly given the financial situation caused by the Coronavirus outbreak, and instead any deal will be a ‘transfer fee plus various bonus payments’.
In fact, they even offer up an example, suggesting Leverkusen will look for something similar to €80m plus €20m in bonuses.
