Watford’s Luis Suarez is now known for more than simply having the same name as the Barcelona star.
Excelling on loan with Real Zaragoza this season, he’s been another example of the Hornets working well in the transfer market. Whether he’ll ever play for them is another thing, but even if not it’s clear a big profit is on the way.
Lazio have been linked repeatedly in recent weeks, and now it seems there’s more to the story. Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport says the club are currently planning an offer they’ll make to Watford for the forward.
The idea is a €15m base, and with bonuses it’s said the club could ‘go as far as offering €18-20m’ for the signing this summer.
Previous reports have stated Watford are looking for a fee around €50m. That seems unrealistic for the Premier League club, yet they may well believe that €15m just doesn’t make it worth selling the player.
On the other hand, Corriere say Watford will be ‘forced to sell this summer’ because next year Suarez will have a year remaining on his contract.
That stance seems too optimistic for Lazio, Watford aren’t often forced into anything.
