As far as we know, there have only ever been three Zambian footballers to have graced a Premier League pitch: Neil Gregory for Ipswich Town, Emmanuel Mayuka at Southampton and Collins Mbesuma for Portsmouth.
However, if Sports Corna are to be believed, we could end up with a fourth who goes by the name of Fashion Sakala, as the KV Oostende striker is allegedly being tracked by Newcastle United and West Ham.
The website explain the 23-year-old recently teamed up with the Wasserman agency, who are now ‘behind his move to either England or Spain’.
Currently the Belgian side’s top scorer, it’s said the player ‘is reportedly moving to an unnamed club in England or Spain’, and while that hasn’t been revealed yet, Sports Corna claim the Zambia U23 international ‘has attracted interest from Newcastle and West Ham’.
Sakala, who arrived at Oostende from Spartak’s second-team back in 2018, had scored eight goals and assisted another three in 28 Jupiler Pro League appearances this season, which was apparently enough to catch the eye of Steve Bruce’s and David Moyes’ scouts.
As well as Newcastle and West Ham, Monchi’s Sevilla are also reportedly on the case.
We can’t say we have much of a track record with Sports Corna, so we’ll just have to wait and see on this one, but they seem fairly sure of their information.
