For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been covering several stories about Marcos Rojo’s situation at Estudiantes de La Plata.
Several reports from Argentina have been claiming the club will work hard to negotiate with Manchester United and extend his loan spell.
Signed from the Red Devils back in January, the defender struggled with injuries at first, and took a while before making his first appearance for the Argentine side.
Rojo played only one game for his childhood club, and then the league took a break due to the Coronavirus crisis, meaning he could have to return to England with just that appearance for them.
Now Estudiantes fans are obviously asking Rojo to stay a little longer, and in an interview with Estudiantes y su Gente, the player has confirmed his wish to extend his contract.
“If it were up to me, I would talk to Manchester United leaders to stay six more months. I would feel tremendous pain if I had played so little. I’m fully recovered and able to play,” he said (via Olé).
One of the people who’ve joined this campaign is Rojo’s teammate Javier Mascherano. Following the loanee’s quotes, the former Barcelona star has tweeted saying: ‘I want to believe that you have already signed the contract extension, Marcos.’
Quiero creer que ya firmaste la extensión del contrato Marcos😉 https://t.co/ZQ0mUm2tbs
