Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is ‘in love’ with Lille’s Boubakary Soumaré and is following the midfielder ‘closely’.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Reds will have to fight with Real Madrid for the highly-rated French midfielder this summer.
Yesterday we covered a report from Sport explaining that Madrid were showing interest in the 21-year-old, with Zinedine Zidane keen to add a midfielder to his squad this summer.
They claimed that numerous clubs were chasing the Lille star and today they add Liverpool’s name to the list of suitors.
According to the newspaper, Klopp is a big fan, and the Reds even held negotiations with him in the summer, only for Soumaré to decide to stay in France for another year.
He was rated at €40m in January but the outbreak of the Coronavirus and a difficult second half of the campaign for him may have brought that price down.
It’s a situation Liverpool ‘can take advantage of’ to convince Soumaré he will be ‘important’ at the club and choose them ahead of the other clubs who are interested in him.
Madrid are one of those who will rival Liverpool for his signature, and Florentino Pérez has ‘put the meat on the table’ in an attempt to sign him.
They view the midfielder as a long-term replacement for Casemiro but know that they will need a ‘big investment’ if they are to secure his signature.
