Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web today features an interview with agent João Santos, who represents Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
The official has been in lockdown in his house in Istanbul, despite all the business he normally has in Italy.
Most of the interview was obviously about Coronavirus, with the agent claiming it’s more important to work in favour of people’s health and forget about transfers for a while.
“I had something to do, but health is more important today. Everything has stopped. Today those who talk about the market are pretending,” João Santos told Tutto Mercato Web.
Still, in the last question of the interview, Tutto Mercato Web managed to include a little football in the chat, with a topic about Jorginho.
With the Euros being postponed for a year, they asked João Santos how the Chelsea midfielder has felt about it, since he was expected to be representing Italy and playing in the competition for the first time.
“He understood the situation, as everyone obviously had a precise schedule for the Euros. But, as said, it’s right to stop. Italy are a young team, next year they will have one more year of experience and will arrive with more awareness of their strength in the competition. Today it’s more important to do your part to stop the virus. We’re at home, maybe in twenty days we will come back to go out and have fun.”
Born in the Brazilian city of Imbituba, Jorginho started playing for the Italian national team back in 2016. He was part of the squad which failed to get a place at the 2018 World Cup, and despite featuring in the Nations League, he’s still to play a major tournament for the country.
