When Christian Eriksen was dreaming of his future at Inter Milan in January, he probably didn’t envision the Coronavirus ruining everything.
The midfielder was full of hope for the future when he finally secured his move to the Serie A side from Tottenham.
It brought about an end to almost a year of speculation about the Dane’s future, who had made it clear he wanted to leave Tottenham for some time.
At the time he completed his move, the pandemic was not the international concern it is today, with it barely having reached European shores as he was signing on the dotted line for Antonio Conte’s side.
Football players the world over have not managed to escape the spread of the virus, with many now either having contracted the virus or in isolation to avoid doing so.
Eriksen is no different it seems, with La Repubblica reporting the midfielder has found himself ‘catapulted into a surreal reality’ due to the health crisis.
Having already been forced into quarantine before Daniele Rugani testing positive, he’s also been forced to move home as the hotel he was staying in has been closed down because of the virus as well.
He now needs to find himself somewhere else to live to respect the 15-day isolation period that is being advised by medical officials.
So hardly an ideal situation for the midfielder, whose dream move from Tottenham has quickly turned into a bit of a nightmare.
