Arsenal failed in their efforts to sign RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano before the start of the season.
Last month, reports coming out of Spain explained the centre-back was Barcelona’s ‘ultimate objective’ for January, but no deal took shape.
According to Bild, the 21-year-old has decided against renewing his contract with the Bundesliga club and his current deal runs down in 2021. He will be available for €60m in the summer.
It’s claimed top clubs are ‘lining up’ for the Frenchman and the report mentions Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in him. The north London club get a mention and Bild adds Arsenal still ‘want’ the player after failing to land him last summer.
The German newspaper adds the Premier League remains Upamecano’s ‘dream destination’.
Any approach from Mikel Arteta’s side will see them face competition from the Bavarian club.
Another report from Bild explains the German champions have been following the Leipzig star for a long time.
It further states Bayern have registered their interest with Upamecano’s management and they want to be informed if another club makes an approach for him.
