Southampton defender Cedric Soares is an option for Valencia if they cannot complete a move for Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi.
Valencia want to add a right-back to their squad this month and have been scouring the market for several solutions to one of the biggest problems in their team.
They have set their sights on Florenzi, and it is looking extremely likely that the Italian will end up at the Spanish club.
However, they have a plan in place should there be any problems finalising the deal, and have already identified several alternatives.
And according to El Mercantil Valenciano, one of them is Southampton’s Cedric Soares, with Valencia coach Albert Celades a fan of the Portuguese defender.
Soares has been linked with a move away from Southampton for several months as his contract set to expire in the summer and there is no sign of him agreeing on a new deal.
That could make him a low-cost option for any interested parties, and Valencia are one of them if they can’t get their first choice target in Florenzi.
