AEK striker Nelson Oliveira looks set to stay with the Greek club beyond this window despite the strong interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, report Pagenews.gr.
Last week we covered reports from Greece that Wolves made an offer for the Portuguese striker, but this was rejected as they didn’t meet his buyout clause.
Despite the interest, it seems Wolves are unlikely to pay this after offering just €4m, and the former Norwich City striker is now set to stay at his current club.
Speaking to Sportime, as covered by Tanea, the 28 year old said he’s staying with the Greek side and that’s he’s determined to succeed there: “I’ve realised that people are saying I’m not happy at AEK but that’s not true. These reports have saddened me because I very much love the club and the fans. I’m always giving my best for the team and I will continue to do that.”
Earlier reports stated that the player wants a return to England, where he had spells with Swansea City, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City and Reading.
Another player Wolves have been linked from the Greek Superleague is Daniel Podence but again a deal looks far away. There have been claims the English side are unwilling to meet Olympiacos demands despite reports last week he was set for a medial.
However, there have been reports today from Greece Wolves may go back in with an improved offer.
