This transfer window has largely been missing Moussa Marega.
The FC Porto striker has long wanted a move to the Premier League, and each window his agents seemingly talk up interest from various clubs, usually including West Ham, without anyone managing to please the Portuguese club on price.
A Mali international, the 28 year old was born in France, and Foot Mercato have been speaking to a ‘source close to the player’.
That source was unsurprisingly keen to talk up interest from elsewhere, and it’s claimed both West Ham and Tottenham have tried to sign him on a ‘paid loan with an option to buy’.
Porto aren’t keen on this kind of deal, for a player whose contract runs until June 2021. The Liga NOS side are asking for €30m for the striker and nobody has been prepared to match that.
Napoli are also credited with an interest, but the difficulties at the Serie A club this season, along with racism issues in Italian football, are said to be dampening the idea for Marega.
Given all of that, and with Porto hardly likely to change their mind and loan Marega to West Ham or Tottenham, he’s likely to stay where he is until the summer.
