Gazzetta dello Sport have a Tuesday article on Inter Milan’s ‘Brexit’ transfer business.
The Serie A club have been strongly linked with Ashley Young, Christian Eriksen and Olivier Giroud this month, and it’s thought at least one of those will end up moving.
Young had been the deal there was most confidence about, however, that’s hit some difficulties with Manchester United not keen on losing the defender in the winter market.
Eriksen is second choice to Arturo Vidal for this month, and Antonio Conte may have to settle for the Tottenham player because Barcelona don’t seem too keen on talks.
For Giroud, ‘perhaps less patience’ is needed, with it being thought Chelsea won’t put up too much of a fight. Frank Lampard has hardly used the striker and with Giroud needing minutes ahead of Euro 2020 it’s hoped a deal can be found.
Gazzetta state the Frenchman has said ‘yes’ to a contract lasting until June 2021. That seems sorted, but Chelsea want €10m and Inter want to pay around half that.
Inter do have other options, should it fail, and their ‘Brexit’ business is wobbling.
