Earlier today we covered a claim from Italy that AC Milan would be quite happy with Aston Villa’s €28-30m offer for Krzysztof Piatek, and it’s the level they expect other clubs to reach should they want to sign the striker this month.
Unfortunately for Villa, whilst their reported offer pleases Milan, it doesn’t satisfy the Poland international. That could change, stranger things have happened in previous January windows.
Nevertheless, Villa need to look elsewhere, and AreaNapoli says they’ve set their sights on two Napoli players. It’s Jesús García Pitarch leading the chase, so it’s perhaps no surprise he’s picked out two Spaniards.
First up is Jose Maria Callejon, with the right winger, who turns 33 years of age in February, sharing the same agent as Pepe Reina. The former Real Madrid player’s contract expires in June, and Villa ‘would like to spend about €10m’ on him.
Should that offer be concretely then AreaNapoli say it will lead to consideration, given the contract situation.
Fernando Llorente is the other option. He’s been weakly linked with Tottenham and it’s thought he’s available at Napoli. Turning 35 years of age next month, Napoli are looking at around €10m for a player they signed on a free transfer in the summer, however, it’s thought Villa would only offer a fraction of that.
It’ll be interesting to see if either of these stories gather pace in the coming days, but the asking prices seem high for players of that age, and ones who will be on relatively big contracts.
