Everton are one of a number of clubs to be interested in Gonzalo Villar, reports Alicante Plaza.
The 21 year old was born in Murcia and started in Elche’s youth system, making it to their B team before moving to Valencia’s B side. In 2018 he then moved back to Elche where he was able to force his way into the first team.
Elche are currently 7th in the Segunda division, and Villar has made 20 appearances already this season, scoring one goal and playing in a central midfield position.
His contract lasts until June 2021 so now is the time Elche need to start thinking about a sale or renewal.
Alicante Plaza report AS Roma are moving for the player and have already submitted an offer. That’s thought to be for around €3m, but Elche have a problem… Valencia are due a mighty 80% of any sale price. They also have the right of first refusal.
It must be frustrating for the second tier club, given Villar started his career with them.
As for Everton, it’s explained they, along with Atalanta and Juventus, have contacted Elche to register their interest in the youngster.
