Christian Eriksen’s lacklustre performance at the weekend could have a greater impact on his transfer status than what Inter Milan have been planning.
The Italian club originally wanted to wait until the summer, with Arturo Vidal being Antonio Conte’s preference in the January window, and an end of season move was also said to be the preference of the player and his agent Martin Schoots.
A winter move was estimated at around €20m, however, Inter now seem to believe they can get the player for much less.
Monday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Schoots is currently in London to ‘discuss the terms’ of Eriksen’s exit. Inter are now in ‘advanced work’ but don’t want to match that €20m figure, indeed, the Italian newspaper states Conte’s side ‘don’t want to spend more than €10m’.
Schoots is thought to be crucial in this regard, with it being his job to convince Tottenham to give a ‘discount’ on the move. On wages, there’s an ‘agreement in principle’ for €7.5m a year after tax.Gazzetta say that despite putting on a cautious front, there’s growing optimism at Inter Milan, and that’s partly due to Eriksen becoming persona non grata among the Spurs support.
