Gedson Fernandes to West Ham has taken several steps forward over the past few days, although it isn’t an agreed deal yet, report O Jogo.
The Benfica midfielder will ‘likely travel to London this weekend’, something which is said to be expected by the player and West Ham themselves.
Negotiations continued on Thursday between the Hammers and the Lisbon side and there’s now a rough agreement, with some time being spent yesterday trying to smooth the edges of a potential deal.
According to O Jogo, one of the reasons a move hasn’t been finalised is Benfica needing the player in their squad tonight, because they’re missing Adel Taarabt.
Gedson is expected to move on an 18 month loan, with West Ham paying a fee for the period and also covering the 21 year old’s wages.
In this particular article there’s no mention of a buying clause. However, it is stated there would be the possibility for the youngster to return to Benfica in the summer if he’s not getting enough minutes or if West Ham are relegated.
