At the end of last week it was suggested by sections of the Italian and Danish media that Christian Eriksen moving to Inter Milan is close to becoming a reality.
That stance has wobbled since. Sunday’s edition of Corriere della Sera reported Inter manager Antonio Conte would prefer Arturo Vidal if he has to make a choice between him and the Tottenham player this month.
Monday’s edition of Ekstra Bladet, the Danish newspaper which carried Friday’s claims of a move being close, has a transfer special today featuring Eriksen… and doesn’t even mention Inter Milan.
Over at Il Messaggero, it’s again claimed Conte’s priority is Vidal, although Eriksen is still in the picture.
As far as the Italian newspaper has it, Inter are ‘seriously considering’ signing the Tottenham player in January rather than waiting for a potential free transfer in the summer.
A first offer has been presented to Spurs, which is said to be €10m. It’s unlikely such an amount is going to impress Daniel Levy even if the claim of the bid is correct.
Corriere dello Sport report Inter are looking at Eriksen more as a June signing than a January one, and will only move for the Tottenham player if they get a Vidal rejection.
Rather than being close to a done deal, this one is taking a step or two back.
