This weekend, reports from the English press have claimed Everton have joined the race for Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.

Today’s newspapers from Portugal even have one or two stories covering it, but it looks like the local media is still to find out their own information about the Toffees’ interest.

However, there’s something they insist a little, and that’s West Ham’s attempt to sign the 20-year-old from the Eagles.

As O Jogo covers the news about Everton, they say the Hammers will be in Lisbon tomorrow to have a meeting to close this transfer.

This meeting had been reported last week, by Record. But they had only claimed it was scheduled for this week, so it’s good to have an exact date of when it’s happening.

The Portuguese media continues to insist that Benfica are keen on closing a deal, regardless of it being a loan or a permanent move.
