Real Valladolid will target Huddersfield Town defender Terence Kongolo should Mohammed Salisu leave the club in January.
That’s according to Pucela Fichajes, who say that Valladolid are planning ahead given the reported interest in Salisu.
The centre back has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances this season, with Everton and Manchester United both named as suitors in recent months.
The club’s management are aware that he could leave, particularly as he has a low release clause, and are planning for that eventuality.
And should he go, Huddersfield defender Kongolo is the man they have identified. They report that the player is the one who the ‘sports management likes the most’ to replace Salisu.
They don’t, though, have the money to pay for a ‘high transfer’ and would instead seek a loan deal with a purchase option included for the summer transfer window.
There is a belief that Huddersfield would ‘value his departure’, with Kongolo currently out of favour at the club.
He has not started a league game since the beginning of November and has been left out of the squad for the last six league games, and the suggestion is any bid from Valladolid would be welcomed should it come.
