Maxi Gómez was a transfer target for West Ham United, but left Celta Vigo for Valencia in the summer.
AS earlier reported the Uruguay international’s desire to continue in La Liga and also play in the Champions League were reasons behind his decision to reject Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
The 23-year-old has netted five times across 11 league appearances and his impressive displays have reportedly caught Manchester United and Liverpool attention.
This is according to Calciomercato, who have a report on the striker with a headline ‘Valencia: Two big English [clubs] want Maxi Gomez’.
Within the report, it’s stated the Red Devils and the Champions League winners have begun to consistently follow the South American, who has a contract with the Spanish side until 2024.
Any approach from either Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side or the Reds to sign Gómez would see them spend big, because he has a €140m release clause in his contract.
Calciomercato doesn’t state whether it’s their exclusive or if they have taken it from another source. If it’s the latter, there is no mention of the primary source in the report.
