Three days ago, we carried a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, who explained Swansea City’s André Ayew has emerged as a transfer target for Lazio.
On August 28th, the same newspaper reported the Serie A side would make an exception from their usual plans to sign the Ghana international.
Gazzetta’s online edition provides another update as they claim the possibility of more twists at Italian club must not be excluded due to Felipe Caicedo’s situation.
The Ecuadorian’s contract at Lazio runs down in 2020 and he’s not signed an extension yet. He’s attracting interest from Besiktas. Ayew is one of the profiles identified by Lazio director of football Igli Tare as a potential replacement for Caicedo.
It’s claimed the former West Ham man could be an excellent addition to Lazio’s squad, even if Caicedo decides to continue at the club. If they sign the 29-year-old, it would provide Simone Inzaghi an opportunity to deploy three players up front.
Gazzetta further add that Ayew is leaving Steve Cooper’s side, which is why Lazio’s operation to sign him could be ‘closed quickly’.
