Two days ago, Mundo Deportivo reported Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal has a ‘total agreement’ with Real Sociedad, but the two clubs were yet to agree for the transfer.
On August 27th, Diario Vasco explained there were discussions between La Real and the Gunners for the left-back on Monday.
Mundo Deportivo now claims the communications between both sides are fluid, but no significant progress was made on Tuesday.
In the offices of the La Liga side, they can move towards signing the 33-year-old and are hoping to close the deal today, even though it remains complex.
It’s claimed the Basque club have set a deadline of 48 hours to complete the deal. They fear the defender’s move could collapse if it’s not sealed before the weekend.
If Monreal arrives, the Spanish side plan to offload Kevin Rodrigues and the deadline is set so that Sociedad can avoid working on the latter’s exit operation in the final hours of the window.
Arsenal are not worried about Sociedad’s deadline because Unai Emery would prefer to have the player at his disposal for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
Mundo states Monreal wants the move and has already convinced his manager to facilitate his exit. Though he is a key player for Emery, Arsenal could grant his wish after taking into account his service to the club.
Sociedad’s idea is to close the deal before tomorrow and should they be successful, Monreal’s presentation will be over the weekend so it doesn’t disrupt preparation for the clash against Athletic Club Bilbao on Friday.
