According to Fanatik, Fenerbahce have drawn up a plan to sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal this summer, and are ready to go through with it.
In recent weeks the Turkish side have been linked with a move for the Arsenal star and reports in Turkey have been suggesting they are becoming increasingly confident about landing the player.
Fanatik report Ozil is earning €15m a season with Arsenal and Fenerbahce are ready to pay him €9m per annuum, with the remainder of wages being covered by the Premier League side.
Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is said to be very keen on signing Ozil and he’s reportedly in talks with some major sponsors to fund a move for the 30 year old. How that would work with FFP isn’t made clear.
It’s reported the Super Lig club are now ready to make a loan offer to Arsenal and are hoping they can seal what would be one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history.
Ozil, who has made it no secret he was childhood Fenerbahce fan, is under contract with the Gunners until June 2021.
These claims are causing a lot of excitement in Turkey this morning, #GetUpWeAreSigningMesutOzil and #FenerWaitingForYouMesut (in Turkish) have been trending on Twitter.
