The Maxi Gomez situation is getting a little bitter in Spain, and there’s been several accusations sent the way of Stellar Group, the agency representing the striker.
Media local to Valencia have suggested it’s the agent fees being asked for which are causing a hold up on the player’s move.
Several times it’s been stated Stellar want more than €3m in commissions, and West Ham are willing to pay this.
Over at Valencia, the suggestion has been they only want to pay 10% commission on the €14.5m straight fee which Celta would be paid by Los Ches. Whereas the agents value the deal at more than €30m given it includes Santi Mina and a player on loan.
Jonathan Barnett has now spoken to Levante EMV after claims were made that Stellar want the €3m after paying €1m for Gomez to break with his previous agents less than a year ago. On that claim, Barnett has said: “It’s absolute rubbish and a lie.”
On the general transfer, he said: “It all depends on who makes a sufficiently acceptable offer (to Celta). If the two clubs (Valencia and West Ham) meet that requirement, the player will decide. I’m not talking about the offer in terms of the player’s salary, because before that West Ham should agree with Celta.”
It’s still all very much in the air.
