Östersunds FK manager Ian Burchnall has told the Swedish media it’s unlikely Everton forward Bassala Sambou will be arriving at the club this summer.
OFK have been linked with a move for Sambou but he could still remain at Goodison Park despite his contract situation.
Fotboll Direkt have reported on comments Burchnall made to Op.se when asked if they would be signing the Everton youngster: “You never know, but I haven’t heard anything more. It’s unlikely something happens.”
A few weeks ago it looked like Sambou would become a free agent with his contract expiring at the end of this month but the Premier League side last week announced on their website the 21 year old has been offered a new deal.
If the attacker commits himself to Everton it seems unlikely he will be heading to OFK this summer despite the Swedish side’s eagerness to bring him in. Blackburn Rovers have also been linked with the player and they too look set to miss out on him.
A loan could be possible.
The German joined Everton from Coventry City on a three year contract in 2016 but he’s yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
