Both Real Madrid and Chelsea should be able to come out of the Eden Hazard talks and say they’re a winner.
The player’s transfer is expected to be announced soon, after the clubs came to a broad agreement this week, but not everything is set in stone.
Marca say Chelsea have refused to budge from claiming €130m for their player. His performance against Arsenal in the Europa League final strengthened their hand, and the Blues have been adamant they want that figure hitting.
Madrid haven’t wanted to go over €100m, and their first offer was €80m, so for a deal to take shape compromise was needed.
The Spanish newspaper states compromise comes in the form of a €100m flat fee and a further €30m in bonus payments. It’s the triggering of those payments which is the final aspect of the agreement.
It will hinge on matches played with Real Madrid, trophies won with the club and personal achievements such as Hazard winning the Ballon d’Or.
