A couple of days ago, we covered a story in AS claiming Liverpool were interested in Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, with the Reds intending to ‘make an offer’.
The player’s agent was already said to be ‘working’ with Jürgen Klopp’s side to try and get a deal over the line, but the La Liga side had ‘yet to receive’ any official offers for their centre-back.
The belief was that a deal could be closed at €30m, yet it isn’t the Reds who are the ‘favourites’ for Llorente’s signature, it’s their local rivals Everton.
The Toffees were already linked over the past week with a move for the defender, yet local newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa take it a step further by claiming Marco Silva and co. are ‘the most interested’.
‘Contacts’ are said to taken place in May between both sides, and Real Sociedad are ‘waiting’ for Everton to come forward with an official offer, which they hope will be around €30m.
Until they do, however, it remains speculation.
