Now it’s been announced that Massimo Allegri won’t be manager of Juventus next season, the Italian sport media can really throw themselves headfirst into finding new candidates and getting swept away with rumours.
Mauricio Pochettino is of course one of the names being linked with taking over in Turin. The Tottenham manager is considered one of the best on the planet, and Juve is one of the top jobs in European football.
On Monday, TMW claim Juventus have been in contact with the Spurs boss ‘for 20 days’.
It’s claimed that whether Tottenham win or lose the Champions League final, Pochettino will ask Daniel Levy to let him leave the club – for free.
Juventus would then give the Argentine a three year contract worth €12m a season, making him the second best paid person in the sporting department, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo.
Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are seen as ‘complicated’ and it’s considered almost impossible that Napoli would release Carlo Ancelotti. Simone Inzaghi is an alternative.
The Pochettino claims sound overly optimistic for Juve. It’s got to be considered unlikely Pochettino will have been in talks about an exit for nearly three weeks, and perhaps even less likely that he’d expect Levy to let him leave Tottenham without any compensation payable.
