Roberto Pereyra of Watford was on the radar of Torino during the past two transfer windows, but they failed to land the midfielder.

The Hornets technical director Filippo Giraldi admitted in April that it is unlikely the 28-year-old will reunite with his former manager Walter Mazzarri at the Turin club.

Despite the comments made by the English club’s chief, it’s not had any impact on the Italian club’s long standing effort to chase the former Juventus man.

This is a report from Tuttosport is to be believed, as they claim the South American is a ‘priority’ signing for the Serie A club this summer.

Pereyra is one of the main targets for Mazzarri and also one of the main objectives for his chairman, Urbano Cairo, as the Watford player is ‘dear’ to the two key people at Torino.

If Torino qualifies for next season’s European competition, their transfer budget would increase considerably and with it, ‘both enthusiasm and ambitions’.

The player still has two years left on his contract at Vicarage Road and whether or not Torino will be successful in landing their long-term target is to be seen.
