Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen is very much displacing Paul Pogba as the attacking midfielder Real Madrid are most interested in signing this year.
It’s been a gradual process. Pogba had been the subject of endless stories and claims but around ten days ago things started to go a little negative.
Real Madrid aren’t entirely convinced with the Manchester United player and given the level of transfer fee required, the wages which would be involved, and the nightmare of dealing with Mino Raiola, it was all becoming less wanted.
El Confidencial state that Madrid are now in negotiations to sign Eriksen, and it’s claimed the assumption around the market is that the Dane has already reached an agreement with the Spanish side.
Therefore, it would be just a case of Tottenham negotiating the best outcome for themselves. The confidence on this one is building, and a huge part of the reasoning for that is Eriksen’s contract situation.
Daniel Levy is very difficult to deal with, but won’t want to see such a player leave for free a year later. El Confidencial say Eriksen has already rejected ‘several renewal offers’ from Spurs.
