If the reports in Italy are to be believed, there’s only really one thing standing in the way of Edin Dzeko saying yes to a move to West Ham: Inter.
Understandably, the forward would prefer a transfer to a club playing in the Champions League next season, with Luciano Spalletti’s side currently sitting third in Serie A with just a handful of games to go.
However, with Mauro Icardi still at the club and making an impact on his return, the door could remain closed for the Bosnian at San Siro, leading him to head to London instead.
That’s what West Ham will be hoping for, and Corriere dello Sport explain everything should be made clearer next Saturday when Dzeko will make full use of his presence in Milan (Roma face Inter in the league) to find out what his future could be made of.
The Hammers, down their end, are said to be ‘insisting’ for his signature, an offensive spearheaded by Manuel Pellegrini, who wants to reunite with the forward after their time at Manchester City together.
It’s made clear that Dzeko will not accept ‘far less’ than the €6m/year he’s currently earning at Roma, but, if previous reports are to be believed, he shouldn’t have to, as West Ham are prepared to offer him a similar salary.
