Mohamed Diame’s contract with Newcastle United expires in the summer.

There have been reports about a clause triggering an automatic one year extension should the midfielder player a certain number of games this season.

Now there’s claims from Senegal, the country who Diame represented before retiring from international football in 2017.

WIW Sport report the player is attracting the interest of several teams, including Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.

It’s pushed again that Diame wants a two year contract extension, believing he deserves and needs that security at this stage of his career. A further one year deal could see the footballer reach 33 years of age in June 2020 and only have weeks left on his contract.

WIW Sport say Newcastle are ‘not ready to accept’ the renewal conditions, and that would provide an opportunity for Crystal Palace and Brighton.

In addition, there’s said to be interest from Spain, Italy and Turkey.
